T2-Specific Installation: Size & Fitment
The original VW T2 dashboard opening is roughly 200mm × 70mm. Most aftermarket EV dashboards require consideration of the following:
- The 10.1" TFT (252×146mm) will need a custom bezel or console modification
- The E-720 (5" panel) fits more easily with minimal trimming
- ZB12, S23, and FY00 are compact enough to fit inside the original instrument cluster housing
If you want a clean retro look, consider mounting the dashboard inside the original cluster housing with a custom 3D-printed adapter plate.
Wiring & Power Supply
All CMVTE dashboards run on 12V DC — the same as your T2's original electrical system. Key wiring points:
- Connect to the T2's 12V accessory circuit (switched ignition)
- Use a DC-DC converter if your high-voltage pack runs at 96V–144V to keep the 12V system charged
- CAN H/CAN L wires connect directly to your motor controller and BMS
